Xfire In-Game Messaging

Before Xfire, once you joined a game you were essentially out of communication with the outside world. Now, all that has changed - with Xfire In-Game Messaging.

Xfire is now able to send messages from your friends directly into your game, notifying you of who is trying to reach you and what they're saying. If it's an important message, take the time to chat back: simply press the Scoll Lock and X keys together, and Xfire will bring up a mini in-game chat window, allowing you to write back to your friend. If you're chatting with multiple different people, simply press Page Up or Page Down to cycle between the conversations.

When you reply to your friend, your message will be sent straight to their screen - even if they're in an entirely different game. For the first time, you're able to chat with friends who are playing their favorite MMORPG while you're fragging away in your favorite FPS, RTS, or any other game!

Xfire In-Game Messaging seamlessly integrates IM communication to anyone, anywhere, even when you're busy playing a game. The Xfire in-game chat window has minimal impact on frame rate, and will never take focus without you letting it. Now you can leave your Xfire open and stay in touch with friends, without worrying about being interrupted during that key battle.

To activate Xfire In-Game Messaging, go to the Tools menu, click Options, go to the Chat tab, and make sure that Show chat messages in game is checked. If you want to change the keystroke combination to use Xfire while playing a game, click on the Key Binding button.

To make sure Xfire In-Game works, you'll also need to make sure you have a recent version of DirectX (we recommend 9.0c, available here), and that the game you're playing supports in-game messaging. View games that support Xfire In-Game here.

Onward! None of my friends are online, and I need a server to play on!
